The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Guerschon Yabusele to a one-year, $2.1 million contract after his impressive performance in the Olympics.
Yabusele’s NBA Journey
Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 260 pounds, Yabusele was born in Dreux, France. He was picked by the Boston Celtics as the 16th overall draft choice in 2016. He played two seasons with them before moving to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
In his NBA career spanning 74 games, he averaged modest stats: 2.3 points, 1.4 rebounds, and played about six minutes per game. His shooting percentages were decentโ44.2% from the field and a bit over 32% from beyond the arc.

Highlights and Challenges
One of Yabusele’s standout moments came during Bostonโs regular-season finale against Brooklyn on April 11, 2018, where he scored a career-high of 16 points with efficient shooting.
However, his journey hasn’t been smooth. The Celtics waived him in July of 2019. Afterward, he joined Nanjing Monkey Kings in China where he had better stats: averaging nearly 18 points and seven rebounds per game across fifteen games.
He then moved back to Europe to play for ASVEL in France before signing with Real Madrid in summer of 2021.
Return to NBA Spotlight
Yabusele spent three successful years with Real Madrid helping them clinch the EuroLeague title in 2023 while consistently reaching final four stages each season. During this period, he averaged around ten points per game with an impressive three-point shooting percentage.
Returning to NBA action is exciting for fans since we havenโt seen him play there since the end of the ’18-’19 season!
