Joel Embiid is taking a break from the preseason games.
Focus on Health:
The Sixers have decided that Joel Embiid will sit out the rest of the preseason to take care of his left knee, as reported by ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. After meeting with doctors last Thursday, things seem to be looking up for him. The team’s plan is to ensure he’s in top shape for the regular season and playoffs.
Weight Loss Journey:
Embiid has been working hard off the court too. He shared that he shed between 25-30 pounds during the offseason and plans to continue losing weight to improve his fitness. Last year, he was named MVP but only played 39 games because of a torn meniscus in his knee. Even when he returned late in the season, he wasn’t completely healed and struggled during the playoff series against New York.
We hope Embiid stays healthy this season; it’s always exciting to watch him play!
Season Opener Uncertainty:
It’s still uncertain whether Embiid will be ready when Philadelphia kicks off their regular season at home against Milwaukee on October 23rd.
