Anthony Davis Leaves Lakers, Reflects on LA Legacy

Anthony Davis is saying goodbye to Los Angeles with nothing but love, even after this weekend’s shocking trade news that’s sending him to Dallas. The eight-time All-Star took to social media to share his thoughts about leaving the Lakers in a deal that brought Luka Doncic to LA.

“6 years ago, I came here with the vision to win a championship, and I will never forget the moment we did!” Davis wrote Monday morning. It was his first public comment since the blockbuster three-team trade that’s sending him and Max Christie to the Mavericks.

For Davis, who started his NBA journey with New Orleans back in 2012, this marks his third team in the league.

He’s not just leaving behind a team – he’s leaving a city that became home. During his time in LA, Davis won his first NBA championship, started a family, and built lasting friendships.

The recent California wildfires clearly left a mark on him too. “My family and I thank everyone who made this place home and we’re still thinking of those that lost their homes in the fires,” he shared in his farewell message.

His bond with his Lakers teammates runs deep. “To my teammates: our friendships go beyond a locker room and a jersey… LA will always have a special place in my heart,” Davis wrote.

The Mavericks aren’t wasting any time welcoming their new star. Just minutes after Davis posted his goodbye, Dallas shared a video of him and Christie on their way to Texas via private jet.

Both players seem pumped about their fresh start. “Mavs fans, it’s your boy AD here with Max,” Davis said in the video. “We’re excited to be a part of the organization, a part of the team. We’re gonna do something special with y’all. We’re excited and we can’t wait to get on the floor and support the team and do what we do best. Go Mavs.”
