Anthony Edwards was not happy after the Timberwolves lost 115-104 to the Kings, marking their fourth straight defeat.
Edwards’ Frustration
After the game, Edwards expressed his disappointment with his teammates’ performance. He called them “a bunch of kids” and criticized their lack of effort on defense. In his words, “We thought defense was our identity but it’s not looking like it at all,” he said. “Our identity right now is, I think, is we’re soft as hell as a team, internally.”
Defensive Struggles
Last season, defense was Minnesota’s strength; they topped defensive charts and reached the Western Conference Finals. This year tells a different story: they’ve dropped to 12th in defensive efficiency and are struggling to stop opponents from scoring in the paint and on fast breaks.
Fans feel that maybe this tough talk from Edwards will spark some change.
The Timberwolves have been losing leads too easily lately. On Wednesday, they let a 12-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter against the Kings after an overtime loss to the Rockets just before that. Edwards didn’t hold back: “We look like front-runners for sure tonight,” he noted.
Looking Ahead
Edwards’ harsh words might be what the team needs to get back on track. They started strong this season with a 6-3 record but have since struggled with only two wins out of nine games. Now sitting at 8-10, they’ll face off against the Clippers and Lakers soon.
Sometimes teams need some tough love to find their way again!
