Bronny James is having a rough start with the Lakers.
In three Summer League games, he’s made only 6 out of 26 shots and missed all 12 three-point attempts. On Friday, during a 99-80 loss to the Rockets, he began well by scoring six points quickly but ended up with just eight points on 3-for-14 shooting and missed all eight of his three-point tries.
Fans might be worried about his performance so far .
After the game, James was asked if he might start in the G-League with the South Bay Lakers instead of being on an NBA bench next season. He said he looks forward to playing basketball at any level and admitted he’s in a slump but hopes to improve soon.
Coach’s Perspective:
New Lakers coach JJ Redick talked about James’ development during the Summer League. Redick isn’t too concerned about James’ offensive struggles and praised his defensive efforts. “Overall, we’ve liked what we’ve seen in practice,” Redick said, appreciating James’ defense.
Redick also called James “case study No. 1” and mentioned that he and his team are excited to work with him over the next few years.
On another note, Dalton Knecht has been performing impressively in recent games. He scored 25 points against the Rockets and had a 20-point game against the Heat earlier in the California Classic. Knecht is expected to be part of the Lakers’ rotation for the upcoming season.
What do you think? Will Bronny turn things around?
