The Bucks are having a rough start this season, with only two wins and eight losses, which is their worst since Giannis Antetokounmpo’s first year in 2013-14.
Challenges with the Current Roster:
Milwaukee is struggling because they don’t have many draft picks and their players are getting older and more expensive. Brook Lopez, now 36, isn’t playing as well as he did when they won the championship in 2021. Khris Middleton has been injured a lot, missing almost 100 games over the past three years and still not ready to play again. Bobby Portis could be traded but probably won’t bring back a superstar player.
Considering Big Moves:
Some think trading Damian Lillard might be an option. Even though he’s had some tough times lately, people still see him as a valuable player. Brian Windhorst from ESPN says that while the Bucks are looking at trades, they’re not planning to trade Lillard or Giannis.
“I was talking to people in the league about the Bucks and I started hearing from people who were saying to me, ‘You know the Bucks called us about trades.’ And I go, ‘About who?’ [They said] ‘Not Giannis and not Dame,'” Windhorst shared on “The Hoop Collective” podcast.
Fans wonder if keeping both stars is really what’s best for Milwaukee right now.
Lillard’s Trade Value:
When asked if teams still want Lillard, Windhorst confirmed there would be interest. Lillard’s contract lasts for two more years with an option for a third year at $58 million. This means any team trading for him would have him until he’s 37 years old.
“There would be interest, sir,” Windhorst replied confidently.
The Greek Freak’s Future:
Another drastic choice could be trading Giannis himself! But according to Marc Steinโs report on Sunday, Milwaukee won’t consider this unless Giannis requests it himself.
