Caitlin Clark Clarifies Political Social Media Post

When Caitlin Clark liked Taylor Swift’s viral Instagram post endorsing Kamala Harris for U.S. President, many thought she was also supporting Harris.

Setting the Record Straight:

However, before Fever’s game against the Aces on Wednesday, Clark clarified her stance. She explained that liking Swift’s post wasn’t an endorsement of Harris but a call for people to make informed decisions when voting.

“I think for myself, I have this amazing platform,” Clark said via USA Today’s Christine Brennan. “So I think the biggest thing would be just to encourage people to register to vote. It’s the second time I can vote in an election… I think [voter registration], that’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have. That’s the same thing Taylor [Swift] did. I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, and the policies that they’re supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do, and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country.”

Patrick Mahomes’ Similar Stance:

Interestingly, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared similar thoughts during a news conference on Wednesday. He emphasized using his influence to motivate voters rather than endorsing a specific candidate.

Fans appreciate athletes who use their platforms responsibly.

Game Update:

Clark’s team entered Wednesdayโ€™s game against the Aces with six wins out of their last eight games, aiming for playoff momentum. Unfortunately, they lost 86-75 to the reigning two-time WNBA champions. Fever will face off against Aces again on Friday before wrapping up their regular season against Wings and Mystics.

The WNBA playoffs begin on Sept. 22nd!
