Caitlin Clark has been a game-changer for the WNBA in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever.
The 22-year-old guard is already one of the best on her team, helping push them toward their first playoffs since 2016.
However, with only 12 games left in the regular season, her frequent disagreements with referees might lead to a suspension.
Technical Fouls and Their Impact:
Clark has racked up five technical fouls this season, tying her with Arike Ogunbowale and Kahleah Copper for second-most. Diana Taurasi and Natasha Cloud lead with six each. Fans might feel that these calls are too harsh and could hurt the team’s chances.
Her first technical came during an 88-84 loss to Connecticut Sun on May 20. The next one happened in a game against Los Angeles Sparks on May 28, contributing to a rough start for Indiana at 1-7.
She received another technical just two days later against Seattle Storm but then went over a month without one. During June and July, the Fever improved significantly, going 9-6 before she got another technical on July 14 against Minnesota Lynx.
One of the most controversial calls was during a recent game where Clark slapped the stanchion out of frustration after missing a shot. This led to an immediate tech foul .
I just witnessed one of the worst technical fouls ever called on Caitlin Clark just now.
Misses shot on one end, comes back on defense, ball goes out of play, slaps stanchion in frustration, gets called for a tech.
Insane.
