The Celtics are back on top, and they’re making waves both on and off the court!
Beantown Boys Hit the White House
It’s been a whopping 16 years since the Celtics last graced the White House with their championship swagger. But this past Thursday, they were back, basking in the glory of their latest NBA title. Owner Wyc Grousbeck, who’s been steering the ship since 2002, shared some big news: he’s planning to hang around for just three more years before passing the torch. “It’s underway,” he said about the sale of his family’s controlling stake. “There’s a lot of interest.” But let’s not get too caught up in the business talk. Wyc’s eyes are set on another championship run, and honestly, who can blame him?
Today, President Biden welcomed the Boston Celtics to the White House to celebrate their 2024 NBA Championship.
Congratulations, @celtics!

Wyc’s White House Wish
For Grousbeck, this was his second rodeo at the White House as an NBA champ. And heโs hoping it wonโt be his last. “This was a very exciting and moving day,” he said, clearly feeling the weight of the moment. The celebrations brought out fans from all over Massachusetts, including some big names like Gov. Maura Healey and Senator Ed Markey. But let’s be real, the real star of the show was the Celtics’ coach, Joe Mazzulla, who’s all about looking ahead. “Joe doesnโt really want us to dwell too much on the past,” Wyc admitted. I think that’s the right mindsetโcan’t live in the rearview mirror when there’s so much potential ahead.
First-Timers in the Oval Office
For most of the Celtics squad, this was their first time stepping into the iconic halls of the White House. And boy, were they pumped! Outside of Jrue Holiday, none of these guys had tasted NBA glory before. Derrick White, for instance, didn’t expect to be so moved by the experience. “I didnโt really know what to expect,” he confessed, sounding like a kid on Christmas morning. Walking into the Oval Office, he felt the weight of history and power, and it hit him harder than a full-court press.
Champs on the Court, Too
As the season heats up, Boston is looking like a force to be reckoned with once again. They’re sitting pretty with a 12-3 record, just behind the top spot in the Eastern Conference. They even handed Cleveland their first L of the season, snapping their 15-game unbeaten streak. Talk about making a statement! So, what do you think? Are the Celtics poised to go back-to-back, or will someone else steal their thunder?
