The Boston Celtics are bringing in Lonnie Walker IV on an Exhibit 10 contract, as shared by his agent George S. Langberg with Shams Charania.
Walker Set to Join Maine Celtics
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year deal that lets NBA teams give a bonus to players if they get waived after training camp and then play for the team’s G League affiliate. For the Celtics, this means Walker might play for the Maine Celtics, based in Portland. This team started back in 2009 as the Maine Red Claws and has won three division titles.
Walker had a standout season with the Brooklyn Nets last year, achieving his best player efficiency rating of 13.1 and a true shooting percentage of 54.5%.

According to Basketball-Reference, Walker also set career highs with a three-point attempt rate of 55.1% and usage percentage at 24.4%. Last season with the Nets, he played off the bench in 58 games averaging nearly ten points per game along with solid shooting percentages across all areas.
Career-High Performance Against Philadelphia
In one memorable game against Philadelphia on November 19th, Walker scored a season-high of 26 points while making six three-pointersโa personal bestโin Brooklyn’s loss.
Former Nets coach Jacque Vaughn praised Walker’s patience and commitment despite not playing him initially: โI wanted him to get a feel of who we are… For him to still have the commitment… speaks to who he is.โ
Walker started his NBA journey with four years at San Antonio before moving on to play one season each with Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets.
Fans hope he brings some spark off Bostonโs bench!
He now joins an already strong Celtics lineup featuring Tatum, Brown, Holiday, White, and Porzingis from last year’s championship team.
If everything goes well for Walker during training camp, we might see him contributing significantly from Boston’s second unit!
