TNT might lose NBA broadcasting rights after 2024-25, but Charles Barkley will stay.
On Tuesday, Barkley and TNT confirmed that he will continue to work exclusively with TNT Sports for many years.
โI love my TNT Sports family. My #1 priority has been and always will be our people and keeping everyone together for as long as possible,โ Barkley said in the release. โWe have the most amazing people, and they are the best at what they do. Iโm looking forward to continuing to work with them both on the shows we currently haveโand new ones we develop together in the future. This is the only place for meโ
Barkley’s Commitment:
Despite Warner Bros. Discovery losing its NBA broadcasting rights, they are suing over it. The NBA has teamed up with Amazon, Disney, and NBC in a new 11-year media deal .
Earlier this year, Barkley mentioned he might retire if TNT lost its NBA rights after 2024-25. Many thought this was a way to push network executives into securing a new deal.
Fans might think it’s great news that Barkley is staying.
Barkley signed a massive $210 million contract for ten years back in 2022. Recently, he hinted he’d stay if TNT committed to paying him well.
If Warner Bros. Discovery loses their lawsuit against the NBA, Barkley could still cover March Madness, golf, and other sports events.
TNT may have messed up negotiations with the NBA but at least they kept Barkley on board.
