In a surprising move, the Bulls have traded Alex Caruso to the Thunder for Josh Giddey.
Trade Details:
The Bulls sent their two-time NBA All-Defensive Team player, Alex Caruso, to Oklahoma City. In return, they received Josh Giddey, a younger and promising player. Sam Presti, the Thunder’s general manager, had been eyeing a player like Caruso for quite some time.
Chicago’s Gain:
While Chicago loses an experienced defender in Caruso, they gain Giddey who has great potential. Sources say that the Thunder planned to bring Giddey off the bench next season—a role he found hard to accept.
“Conversations turned to him inquiring about potential opportunities elsewhere,” Presti explained. “As always was the case, Josh demonstrated utmost professionalism throughout discussions.”

Giddey’s Potential:
Drafted 6th overall in 2021, Giddey has become one of the NBA’s most versatile young playmakers. “When we drafted Josh in 2021 he was essential for our vision,” said his former GM.
Fans feel this trade could be very exciting!
Last season, Giddey played 80 games but saw his scoring drop from 16.6 points per game to 12.3 as his role changed with OKC.
Emotional Farewell:
Giddey posted a heartfelt message on social media confirming his move to Chicago: “Okc… thank you for EVERYTHING.” He expressed gratitude towards everyone from fans to teammates who supported him through highs and lows.
He praised his teammates: “Stuck with me through very high highs & very low lows.”
Meanwhile, Presti emphasized Giddey’s potential: “Josh has All-Star potential… Based on these discussions we decided to move forward and prioritize what was best for the organization.”
