Chris Paul just wrapped up his 19th NBA season with Golden State, posting solid stats for a 39-year-old.
New Chapter in San Antonio
Now, he’s gearing up for a fresh start in San Antonio. Many thought heโd retire, but Chris insists heโs having too much fun to quit. โI think what keeps me going is itโs fun. I get a chance to play basketball every day and say thatโs my way of life,โ he told Colin Cowherd on FS1.

He also mentioned how playing lets him take care of his family and compete at a high level, something he’s been doing since he was four or five years old.
Joining the Spurs
Paul decided to join the Spurs after talking with coach Gregg Popovich. โI love nothing more than the opportunity to play and contribute and hoop,โ he said during his first press conference with the team. The Spurs had a tough season last year but are hopeful about their future with Victor Wembanyama leading the charge.
Fans really appreciate Paul’s dedication; it’s inspiring!
Before this, Paul played for several teams including the Warriors, Rockets, Hornets, Clippers, Suns, and Thunder.
Admiration for Popovich
During his press conference in July, Paul shared how much he has always respected Gregg Popovich. โObviously, Iโve admired Pop from afar for years… thereโs so much respect there,โ said Paul. He praised Popovich not just for his basketball knowledge but also as a person and competitor.
Family Sacrifices
Paul will be without his family while playing in Texas; theyโll stay in California. โMy family is everything… if Iโm not playing, Iโm not happy,” he explained. Even though being away from them is hard, they understand how important basketball is to him.
