The LA Clippers are betting big on Jordan Miller, signing the young forward to a four-year deal worth $8.3 million. The team’s making an immediate investment too – Miller’s getting over $1 million just for the final six weeks of this season.
It’s a huge jump for the 25-year-old, who’s been lighting it up in the G League.
The Clippers had to make some moves to make this happen. They’re waiving MarJon Beauchamp, who they’d just picked up from Milwaukee in a deadline deal for Kevin Porter Jr.
Miller’s journey to this point is pretty interesting. The Clippers grabbed him with the 48th pick in the 2023 draft after he finished up at Miami, and he’s been working his way up ever since.
His NBA numbers are starting to show promise. This season, he’s putting up 4.7 points in about 12 minutes per game, while hitting nearly 43% of his shots.
But it’s in the G League where Miller’s really been showing what he can do.
Playing for San Diego, he’s been absolutely crushing it – averaging 23.9 points per game this season with impressive shooting percentages across the board (50% from the field, 35% from three, and 84% from the line).
Last season wasn’t too shabby either, with nearly 21 points per game over 39 games.
While the deal sounds big at $8.3 million, there’s more to the story. That $1 million he’s getting for the rest of this season is way above the minimum, but the next three years likely aren’t fully guaranteed.
Still, if Miller can bring his G League game to the NBA level, he might outplay this contract pretty quickly.
The Clippers aren’t done making moves either. They’ve waived Kai Jones and brought in Seth Lundy and Patrick Baldwin Jr. on two-way contracts to round out their roster.
