Steve Kerr, the head coach, wants his team to play fast and shoot lots of threes. This means even players coming off the bench have the green light to shoot without worrying too much. Buddy Hield, a new player for the Warriors, fits right into this plan. In their first game against the Blazers, he scored 22 points with five three-pointers in just 15 minutes! That’s something no one has done so quickly since Paul George in 2022.
Record-Breaking Performance
According to ESPN Research, Hield’s performance was historic for the Warriors. He scored more points in 15 minutes than any Warrior has since 1987.
Praise from Teammates
Both Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr praised Hield after his amazing debut. Kerr called him "an incredible addition" who is loved by everyone because of his hard work and joyful spirit. Curry added that Hield simply loves playing basketball and being in the gym.

Shooting Frenzy
In just one game, Hield attempted seven three-pointers in 15 minutes. The entire team shot a total of 48 threes during that game—almost one every minute! Last season, they averaged about 39 threes per game, which was already high in the league rankings. If they keep up this pace, we might see many more exciting games like this one!
Hield’s quick scoring ability reminds people of legends like Downtown Freddie Brown and Vinnie “Microwave” Johnson who were known for scoring off the bench.
