In the upcoming NBA draft, two standout freshmen are already making waves: Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper.
Cooper Flagg’s Rising Star:
Flagg, a freshman at Duke, has been in the spotlight for quite some time. His high school highlights have generated significant excitement, and he entered the season as the top freshman according to 247Sports. Standing at 6-foot-9, Flagg is known for his potential as a two-way player. He’s passionate on the court, especially in defense where his shot-blocking skills shine. As basketball shifts towards position-less play, his versatility is highly valued.
Offensively, Flagg shows promise as a playmaker. He can attack strongly and create opportunities for teammates. However, improving his ball-handling could enhance his one-on-one scoring abilities at higher levels of competition. It’s impressive that he’s just 17 years old; he should technically still be in high school but instead is thriving with averages of 17 points and nine rebounds per game for a top-10 team like Duke. A standout performance was against Louisville when he scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Dylan Harper’s Playmaking Skills:
Challenging Flagg for the top spot is Dylan Harper from Rutgers. At 6-foot-6, Harper stands out with his smooth playing style and maturity on the court. He’s recognized as possibly the best playmaker among freshmen this year due to his ability to score or set up others effectively.
Harper excels as a floor general with an average of 23.1 points per game alongside 4.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds. His performances have caught attention nationwide; notably during Novemberโs Players Era Festival where he scored 36 points in an overtime win against Notre Dame followed by 37 points in a loss to Alabama. These games showcased how well he can handle offensive pressure.
Fans are excited about what these young talents will bring next!
Looking Ahead:
There’s still plenty of basketball left before decisions are made about their futures in the draft class of 2025โbut right nowโFlagg and Harper lead their peers by showing immense skill potential which could only grow stronger throughout this season… or maybe they’ll take up knitting? Who knows!
