D’Angelo Russell might return to his former NBA team.
Jake Fischer from Yahoo! Sports shared that the Los Angeles Lakers guard is getting trade interest from the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets have been considering a reunion with Russell since last February’s NBA trade deadline.
Russell, who was the No. 2 overall pick, played for Brooklyn between 2017 and 2019. During his time there, he became an All-Star in 2019 and averaged 19 points and 6.3 assists per game .
Trade Rumors and Team Changes:
The Nets look very different now compared to when Russell was with them. They recently traded away Mikal Bridges, their top scorer and defender, which suggests they might be focusing on younger players or veterans on short contracts.
Russell, who is now 28 years old, opted into his $18.7M player option for the next season (2024-25), delaying his free agency until next summer. This makes him a valuable trade asset for the Lakers. There’s talk that he could be part of a multi-team trade that might bring a six-time NBA All-Star back to L.A.
Fans might think this move could shake things up quite a bit!
