Danilo Gallinari is hoping for one more NBA season before he calls it quits.
Future Plans and Current Status:
In an interview with La Repubblica, Gallinari, 36, shared his thoughts on his basketball future. He made it clear that a return to Italy isn’t in the cards just yet. “A return to Italy? Not yet,” he said, adding that anything can happen in the market and he’s open to joining any competitive franchise.
Gallinari had high hopes when he signed with Boston two years ago. Unfortunately, a torn ACL sidelined him for the entire 2022-23 season. The Celtics eventually traded him to Washington as part of a deal involving Kristaps Porzingis.
Recent Performance:
Last season was tough for Gallinari. He played 26 games with the Wizards before being traded to Detroit in January. After only six games with the Pistons, he was waived and then picked up by the Bucks in mid-February. His role was limited there; he averaged just 9.1 minutes per game over 17 appearances and posted career-low numbers: 5.7 points per game on 43.7% shooting from the field and 32.3% from three-point range.
Despite these struggles, Gallinari shone bright after the NBA season ended by earning MVP honors at the Trentino Basketball Cup while playing for Italy’s national team.
Looking Ahead:
Currently training with Treviglio in Italy, Gallinari is likely gearing up for his final season as a playerโwhether that’s in the NBA or elsewhere remains to be seen.
Fans hope he gets one last shot at glory!
Once retired, Gallinari has aspirations beyond playing; he mentioned wanting to become an executive within an NBA team someday.
