Uh-oh, Mavs fans! Looks like Dante Exum is gonna be riding the bench for a while, and that’s a tough blow for Dallas.
Exum’s Unfortunate Time-Out
So here’s the scoop: Dante Exum, the Mavericks’ guard, just went under the knife for wrist surgery and is expected to be out for about three months. Yep, you heard that right. He injured his wrist during a training camp workout, and after getting a couple of opinions, he decided surgery was the way to go. This means the Mavs will have to lean on Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, and Jaden Hardy to fill the gap. Let’s hope they can step up!

The Rollercoaster Career of Dante Exum
Exum’s journey in the NBA has been quite the rollercoaster. Drafted fifth overall by the Utah Jazz in 2014, he’s had more than his fair share of injuries. After a stint in Europe, he joined the Mavs in 2023 and quickly became a key player. Last season, he put up solid numbers with 7.8 points and 2.9 assists per game, not to mention his stellar defense. But, man, those injuries just keep coming back to haunt him.
Shooting the Lights Out
Remember when Exum went off against the Lakers last December? That was something else! He dropped a season-high 26 points, nailing seven three-pointers. I think that game was a glimpse of what he can truly bring to the table. Coach Jason Kidd praised Exum’s performance, saying, โHeโs a basketball player. Weโre trying to keep this simple.โ Kidd’s right, Exum may not be a max player, but he sure plays like one when he’s on fire.
Looking Ahead
The Mavs are gearing up to face the Spurs on October 24th to kick off the new season. Without Exum, it’s gonna be interesting to see how they handle things. Can Dinwiddie and the crew hold down the fort until Exum’s back? Or will Dallas need to shake things up? Speaking of trades, did you catch that wild Curry rumor? Anyway, what do you think, Mavs fans? Will Exum come back stronger, or is this just another setback in his injury-plagued career?
