DeMar DeRozan is set to become a free agent, and it looks like he might leave the Chicago Bulls. According to Sean Cunningham from Fox40 News, there’s mutual interest between DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings.
Cunningham tweeted, “After speaking to several sources over the past 24 hours, I’m told there is ‘mutual interest’ between DeMar DeRozan and the Sacramento Kings. The 34-year-old, 6x All-Star led the NBA in minutes played & 4th quarter scoring last season in Chicago.”
Shams Charania from The Athletic also reported that DeRozan is heading to Northern California this weekend to meet with the Kings.

Potential Impact on Sacramento:
Adding DeRozan could give Sacramento a big boost. Since Mike Brown became head coach, the team has been getting better. With his mid-range shots and playmaking skills , he could take some pressure off players like De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
Fans might think this move shows how serious the Kings are about winning now.
To make it work, though, Sacramento may need to tweak their offense a bit. If they do that, having three strong offensive players who also play defense would be huge for them. But if they try to fit him into their current fast-paced style without changes, it might not go so well. After all, he’s getting older and keeping up with a high pace can be tough.
DeRozan brings experience and skill that Sacramento needs but only if they’re ready to adapt for him. If everything aligns well during their talks this weekend, we might hear about him joining soon. If not? There will be plenty of other teams interested in signing him.
What do you think? Would you like to see DeRozan join the Kings?
