Devin Booker just won a medal with Team USA at the Paris Olympics.
Booker was praised by head coach Steve Kerr as the “unsung MVP” for his crucial role. Although he wasn’t the main scorer like in Phoenix, he still shined alongside LeBron James and Steph Curry. Recently, Booker shared his thoughts about playing with these superstars and reflected on past experiences with Team USA.
โThis experience was totally different from the first one. Not taking anything away from that, but the atmosphere, obviously Stephen, LeBron joining us, this experience is going up there with any other experience in my lifetime.โ
Many think this might be the last time we see James and Curry together in Olympic play.
Devin Booker’s Role on Team USA
Booker proved himself as a reliable shooter and defender for Team USA. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting an incredible 56.5% from three-point range. Despite being used to leading his team in Phoenix, he adapted well to a supporting role among other stars to help win gold.
When needed most, Booker showed why he’s one of the league’s best playersโlike when he nailed a crucial three-pointer against Serbia. Even though LeBron and Curry were the big names on this team, Booker’s performance on both offense and defense was essential for their success.
Can The Suns Go Far This Season?
The Suns had a tough end last season after losing to the Timberwolves in the first round of playoffs due to not having a true point guard despite having Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker as scorers. They recently signed Tyus Jones who might fill that gap as their new floor general since Chris Paul left.
If Jones can lead their half-court offense effectively again, then this Suns team has great potential even in a competitive Western Conference! Plus, Booker’s summer achievements could give him extra motivation for what’s ahead
Fans are hopeful about what comes next!
Sometimes it’s surprising how much difference one player can make!
