While Klay Thompson’s departure was tough for many, it hit Draymond Green and Stephen Curry the hardest.
The trio formed the core of the Warriors dynasty, and seeing one of The Splash Brothers leave for a fresh start was emotional. But Green understands there was more to Thompson’s decision than just basketball.
On the “Club 520 Podcast,” Green expressed his feelings: โIโm happy as hell he gone. The reason Iโm happy heโs gone is because he wasnโt happy no more. As a brother, I only want whatโs best for you, not whatโs best for me, not whatโs best for this team.”
Thompson’s Unhappiness
Green’s mention of Thompson being unhappy isn’t shocking but it’s the first time it’s been said out loud. Given how contract talks went between Thompson and the Warriors, it’s easy to see why he’d feel let down by the team that drafted him in 2011.
Fans might think it’s sad to see such a key player leave after so many years with one team.
Now, Thompson will join Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the Dallas Mavericks . He’ll get plenty of chances to play against his old team as they are now Western Conference champions.
