Ex-NBA Player Marcus Morris Sr. Allegedly Stole Over $250K From Las Vegas Casinos

Former NBA player Marcus Morris Sr. allegedly stole over $250,000 from two prominent Las Vegas casinos, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports.

Morris reportedly wrote bad checks at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in May 2024, receiving $115,000 that he never paid back when the checks bounced.

Just a month later, he pulled a similar move at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, getting $150,000 through checks he knew wouldn’t cash.

The 13-year NBA veteran was arrested Sunday at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida after authorities issued two separate warrants for fraud.

He’s been sitting in jail since then, waiting to be sent back to Nevada to face the music.

According to online booking records, he’s facing felony charges for “Fraud – Writing a Check with Insufficient Funds.”

Agent Claims It’s All a Misunderstanding

Morris’ agent, Yony Noy, quickly jumped to his defense on social media, suggesting this wasn’t fraud at all.

“Just so everyone understands this is zero fraud here or whatever crap outlets have said regarding fake checks or whatever the hell,” Noy posted Sunday on X.

“This is due to an outstanding marker with a casino. Apparently if you have over $1,200 they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Absolute insanity!”

Morris’ twin brother, Markieff, also tried to downplay the situation.

“The wording is crazy. Damn for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family,” Markieff wrote. “They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud s–t.”

He added: “They could have came to the crib for all that. When y’all hear the real story on this s–t man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow. This weird s–t gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!”

Markieff showed up to support his brother at Tuesday’s hearing. Marcus has another court date scheduled for late August.

Not His First Legal Trouble

This isn’t Morris’ first run-in with the law.

He previously entered a diversion program after a 2012 battery charge. He was also accused of being involved in a brawl in 2015, though he was eventually found not guilty of those assault charges.

The 6-foot-8 forward played for eight different NBA teams during his career, including stints with the Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Morris last suited up in the NBA in 2024.

Throughout his 832 career regular-season games (509 as a starter), he averaged a solid 12 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting about 44% from the field.
