Steve Kerr has the best winning percentage in NBA playoff history.
He’s won 99 out of 140 postseason games with the Warriors and has four titles. This success led him to become Team USA’s head coach in 2022.
Kerr was also named one of the top 15 coaches in NBA history by a panel of players and coaches. His achievements make him a sure bet for the Hall of Fame someday.
However, Dennis Rodman doesn’t think much of Kerr’s coaching abilities. On Wednesday, a Reddit user shared an interaction with Rodman where he mocked Kerr, saying he just got lucky with Stephen Curry.
“Steve Kerr ain’t coaching [explicit]. Steve Kerr is just having a good time,” Rodman said. “He ain’t coaching. He’s just sitting there watching them kids shoot.”
Rodman’s Criticism:
Rodman’s comments might have been playful since he’s known for joking around with Kerr in the past. In 2017, Rodman criticized modern coaches for resting players too much, while Kerr joked back about Rodman’s frequent suspensions.
Some people agree with Rodman that Kerr was fortunate to inherit Mark Jackson’s strong Warriors team in 2014. But fans often point out that Kerr changed their playing style significantly.
Kerr moved away from traditional pick-and-roll offense to a pace-and-space style, making Curry more dynamic off-the-ball and putting Draymond Green at centerโcreating the famous “death lineup.”
Fans might think it’s interesting how opinions on coaching can vary so widely.
Kerr is also one of only five rookie head coaches to win an NBA title in their first season.
