Giannis Antetokounmpo Admits Bucks Aging

When the Milwaukee Bucks clinched the NBA Finals in 2021, many believed Giannis Antetokounmpo would soon secure another title.

However, the team faced a second-round playoff exit in 2022 and consecutive first-round exits in 2023 and 2024. The Bucks have aged since their last championship, a fact not lost on their star player.

โ€œWeโ€™re getting older. Weโ€™re not getting any younger, but that doesnโ€™t mean we cannot still perform at a high level,โ€ Giannis told ESPNโ€™s Jamal Collier. โ€œItโ€™s hard to say, โ€˜Yeah, weโ€™re old and you have to make changes.โ€™ Because these guys, theyโ€™re beasts.โ€

Offseason Moves:

The Bucks have been relatively quiet this offseason. Theyโ€™ve added Gary Trent Jr., Delon Wright, and Taurean Prince since the end of the 2023-24 season. These additions arenโ€™t exactly intimidating for rivals; much will depend on how well Giannis and his teammates perform.

Giannis is turning 30 this December. While he still has some prime years left, time isnโ€™t on his side. The team needs to make the most of what remains of his peak performance years.

In an ideal scenario, Milwaukee would have acquired bigger names this offseason. But due to limited assets and salary cap constraintsโ€”being over $17M past the first apron and $6.5M past the second-apron thresholdโ€”the front office couldnโ€™t make significant moves.
