Gilgeous-Alexander Gifts Thunder Teammates Luxury Baskets After MVP Win

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just took care of his Thunder teammates in a major way after winning MVP.

The star guard gifted each teammate a luxury basket worth about $10,000 to celebrate his first-ever MVP award, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

And these weren’t just any gift baskets.

Each package included a Rolex watch, a new iPhone, the latest Beats by Dre headphones, and custom embroidered Canada Goose jackets. The jackets feature the Thunder’s incredible 68-14 record from this season.

Every player got the same treatment – from starters to end-of-bench guys.

Gilgeous-Alexander earned the Michael Jordan trophy by leading the NBA in scoring with 32.7 points per game. He also put up 5.0 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and a block per game while shooting incredibly efficiently.

His shooting splits were pretty remarkable: 51.9% from the field, 37.5% from three, and nearly 90% from the free-throw line.

The Thunder are currently battling the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.

SGA Gets Emotional During MVP Speech

When accepting his award, Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a heartfelt speech that showed just how much the honor meant to him.

He started by thanking his teammates, calling them his “family and brothers.” He also made sure to acknowledge the organization and staff who support the players behind the scenes.

SGA didn’t forget his Canadian friends who’ve been with him since the beginning and help him train during the offseason.

Then came the family portion of his speech.

After thanking his brother and parents, he turned to his wife Hailey Summers, and that’s when the emotions really came through.

“Hailey Summers, thank you for everything you are for me, for our son Ares,” Gilgeous-Alexander said as he started to tear up. “You were the first person to show me what love really meant, what sacrifice really meant… And I can’t wait to spend the rest of this journey called life with you.”

His voice cracking with emotion, he continued: “I wouldn’t be the man I am, I wouldn’t be the player I am, the father I am without you. Thank you for that. Thank you everybody.”

The speech capped off what has been a remarkable season for the 25-year-old, who has established himself as one of the NBA’s elite players.
