Stephen Curry’s contract with Golden State is nearing its end after the 2025-26 season, and he can extend it this summer.
Steph’s Future with the Warriors
Despite focusing on winning gold at the Paris Olympics with Team USA, Curry has expressed his wish to stay with the Warriors until retirement. The team’s general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., echoed this sentiment over the weekend.
“That guy can get whatever he wants,” Dunleavy said during a news conference. “It’s been a sprint here getting through the draft and free agency and summer league, but all of that will get figured out. Steph, I think I can say pretty confidently, that he will be a Warrior for life.”

Post-Klay Thompson Era
With Klay Thompson no longer in San Francisco, Golden State is now focused on securing Curry’s renewal as their top priority. They also aim to revamp their roster to return to championship form.
“I think it would have been hard to run the same team back,” Dunleavy explained. “Although 46 wins is pretty good, we didn’t make the playoffs. But this isn’t something where it’s like broken completely. We just need to tune some things up. I think we’ve been able to do that, and we’re excited about this group.”
The team has traded for players like Buddy Field, Kyle Anderson, and De’Anthony Melton but still seeks another player who fits their style.
“Free agency stuff has calmed down,” Dunleavy noted. “We’ve got 14 guys and are against the first apron, so adding in that regard right now would be tough.” He added they are always looking for ways to improve by talking to other teams.

Curry’s Olympic Journey
Curry is thrilled about playing alongside LeBron James and Kevin Durant for Team USA at the Olympics—a unique opportunity indeed! This partnership began with a simple phone call from LeBron last fall where they discussed joining forces in Paris after a disappointing FIBA World Cup performance.
“He was the first person I talked to,” Curry said about his conversation with James regarding teaming up. “‘Would this be something I would want to do?’ And from there it was like ‘Let’s get it.’”
Kevin Durant doesn’t see their Olympic collaboration as a final act for these superstars either.
“Nah,” Durant told ESPN smilingly over the weekend.
“These guys are still playing at an elite level… Bron could play 4 or 5 more years… Steph’s still playing great ball… It’s not just about us three; it’s about winning our fifth in a row.”
