Hawks’ Trae Young Trolls Knicks Fans During Thunder-Nuggets Game 7

Trae Young Takes Shot at Knicks Fans While Watching Thunder Game

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young couldn’t help but stir the pot with New York Knicks fans during Sunday’s Game 7 between the Thunder and Nuggets.

Young was clearly impressed by the deafening noise in Oklahoma City as fans erupted during a late first-half run.

"Hot take but not.. OKC fans are louder than Knicks fans. Happy Sunday!" Young posted on Twitter/X.

The timing of Young’s jab seems a bit off. The Hawks guard is watching the playoffs from home after his team got bounced in the Play-In Tournament.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are headed to the Eastern Conference Finals.

New York’s playoff atmosphere has been electric this year. When they knocked off the Celtics in Game 6 to advance, Madison Square Garden exploded with energy that spilled into the streets.

Knicks fans didn’t let Young’s comment slide. Many fired back that he was tweeting from Cancun, taking shots from vacation while they’re still celebrating meaningful basketball.

The Trae-Knicks Beef Explained

This isn’t the first time Young has poked the bear with New York fans.

The bad blood started back in 2021 when the Hawks faced the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. Knicks fans showered Young with "F*** Trae Young!" chants throughout the series.

Young responded in the most painful way possible – by dominating on the court.

In Game 1, he hit a game-winning floater with less than a second left. After the shot dropped, he dramatically shushed the Garden crowd.

The Hawks went on to crush the Knicks 4-1 in the series.

Young put on a show, averaging 29.1 points and 9.8 assists per game. He even took a theatrical bow at center court after closing out the series in Game 5.

"I know where we are. I know there’s a bunch of shows around this city, and I know what they do when the show is over. They bow," Young said afterward.

That moment cemented him as public enemy #1 for Knicks fans, who have booed him relentlessly ever since.

Right now though, New York fans have bigger things to focus on. They’re getting ready for Game 1 of the East Finals against the Pacers on Wednesday night.

As for Young? He’ll be watching from home.
