Dwyane Wade is celebrated as the Miami Heat‘s all-time best player, but his new statue doesn’t quite show it.
Unveiling the Statue
On Sunday, the Miami Heat honored Wade by revealing a statue outside their home arena, Kaseya Center. This tribute was well-deserved for a player who led them to three championships and earned 13 All-Star titles along with eight All-NBA selections.
A Controversial Tribute
However, the statue itself stirred up quite a reaction. Many felt it looked more like a bad cartoon version of Wade than an actual likeness. Check out what people are saying:

Wade’s Reaction
Even Wade seemed to find humor in how off the statue appeared. During his speech, he jokingly asked, “Who is that guy?”

Fans can’t help but feel this could have been done better.
The Statue’s Flaws
The statue looks like an older version of Wade and jokingly could be called “Dwyane Weight” instead. It’s unclear if there’s any chance for a redo on this sculpture. At least it didn’t have spelling mistakes like Kobe Bryant’s did with the Lakers!
