Hornets Center Out Indefinitely with Rib Fracture

Nick Richards, the Hornets’ main center, faces several weeks off due to a rib injury.

Details of the Injury:

The team shared that an MRI showed Nick Richards has a fracture in his right first rib cartilage. He got hurt during a game against the Celtics when he collided with another player. Doctors will check him every two weeks to see how he’s healing and when he might play again. The next update on his condition will come after their road trip on November 17.

Richards’ Performance and Contract:

Before getting injured, Richards was having his best season yet, scoring 11 points per game and grabbing 10 rebounds on average. Last year, even though he had ankle and foot problems, he played in most games and did well. He’s currently in the second year of a three-year deal worth $15 million.

Fans hope he gets better soon because he’s been playing really well this season!

Impact on the Team:

With Richards out, Charlotte’s lineup is hurting. Mark Williams is also missing due to a foot injury with no clear return date. Moussa Diabate will likely have more responsibilities now; he’s on a two-way contract after being picked in the second round last year. The Hornets may also use smaller lineups with Grant Williams and Taj Gibson stepping up as needed.

Charlotte hasn’t started strong this season, winning only two out of seven games so far. They’ll try to break their losing streak against Detroit at home on Wednesday.
