The Warriors and Pistons clash Saturday night in what’s shaping up to be an intriguing matchup between two of the NBA’s hottest teams. Golden State enters as 6.5-point favorites at home against a surprisingly resilient Detroit squad.
Both teams have been on fire lately, each winning 10 of their last 12 games.
Detroit (35-28) has been impressive on the road this season with an 18-14 record away from home. They’ve been playing some of their best basketball lately, averaging nearly 124 points over their last 10 games while shooting a blistering 51.9% from the field.
Cade Cunningham has been the engine driving the Pistons’ success. He dropped 37 points and 10 assists in Wednesday’s 123-115 loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles.
The Warriors (35-28) are equally hot, putting up 119.2 points per game during their recent 10-game stretch.
Golden State just wrapped up a successful 4-1 road trip with a nail-biting 121-119 win over Brooklyn on Thursday. Now they’re settling in for a seven-game homestand, starting with Saturday’s contest against Detroit.
The Chase Center has been a house of horrors for the Pistons in recent years. Golden State has won 11 of their last 14 home games against Detroit.
Injury Report
Detroit Pistons:
Tobias Harris (personal) is probable to play, while Jaden Ivey (leg) is out for the season.
Golden State Warriors:
Jonathan Kuminga is sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury, and Brandin Podziemski is questionable with back issues.
These teams met once already this season, with the Warriors escaping with a narrow 107-104 win in Detroit back on January 9. Cunningham was spectacular in that game too, scoring 32 points in 40 minutes, but it wasn’t enough.
The Warriors have dominated Eastern Conference opponents lately, winning 9 of their last 10 such matchups.
Detroit has struggled against Pacific Division teams, going just 6-13 in their last 19 games against teams from that division.
According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, Golden State has a 64.3% chance of winning Saturday’s game.
The game tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET and can be watched on Bally Sports Detroit or streamed live on Jazz Sports.
