Injuries are causing trouble for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Current Injury Woes:
During Wednesday’s game against the Nets, Desmond Bane and Marcus Smart both left due to injuries. Bane hurt his side in the third quarter, while Smart twisted his ankle early in the first quarter
. They’re both "day-to-day," but we won’t know more until they get checked out further. The team is also missing GG Jackson II, Luke Kennard, Vince Williams Jr., and Cam Spencer because of various injuries.
Early Season Struggles:
The Grizzlies have had a tough start with a 2-3 record, losing to teams like the Rockets, Bulls, and Nets. This came after an impressive win over the Magic last Saturday source. Losing Bane or Smart for a long time would be bad news since Bane was just starting to play well before getting hurt.
Coach Jenkins’ Thoughts:
Coach Taylor Jenkins knows they need to step up against the Bucks on Thursday. He said, "We just have to fill up our cup and bring a better effort against the Bucks," source. The team needs to compete harder than in their last two games. Everyone feels it’s not okay how they’ve been playing, including him as a leader.
Fans really hope things turn around soon!
High Hopes Dashed?
At the beginning of this season, many thought Memphis would do great with Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke back from injuries that kept them out most of last season. Some believed they’d return to being a 50-win team like in previous seasons. However, things haven’t gone as planned yet; maybe because Morant is still getting back into shape. In four games so far, he’s averaging 19 points per game but struggling with only 16.7% shooting from three-point rangeโhis lowest since his rookie year when he averaged 17.8 points.
Let’s cross our fingers that their luck changes soon!
