Hold onto your hats, folks! The basketball world just got a shake-up, and it’s all about the future of our favorite hoops talk show.
Inside the NBA: The Show Must Go On!
Last week, the rumor mill was buzzing with whispers that Inside the NBA might be on the chopping block. But fear not, hoop heads! It’s official: the beloved TNT show isn’t going anywhere. Even with Warner Bros. Discovery’s drama over losing their rights, the show will keep rolling under TNT’s wing. And here’s the kickerโESPN’s stepping in to take the reins when the new media rights deal kicks off in the 2025-26 season. So, get ready to see Charles, Shaq, Ernie, and Kenny doing their thing with ESPN backing them up.
ESPN’s Big Play
This Monday, ESPN confirmed they’re snagging the broadcast rights for Inside the NBA. Starting with the 2025-26 season, ESPN will be the exclusive home for this iconic show. They’ll be bringing us all the action during NBA Finals, playoffs, and more. Check out the details here:
.
But here’s the twistโTNT Sports will still be producing the show from their Atlanta studios. In my opinion, that’s a win-win for fans who love the original flavor of the show. I mean, who doesn’t want to see Shaq and Chuck’s antics continue uninterrupted?
More Hoops Action on the Horizon
ESPN’s not just stopping at Inside the NBA. Their other shows, like NBA Today and NBA Countdown, will keep on truckin’ as usual. So, while Inside won’t replace ESPN’s studio coverage, it sure will add some spice. Oh, and mark your calendarsโstarting January 25, Inside will host regular-season games on 12 weekends. But no word yet on if they’ll crash the All-Star Weekend party in San Francisco next February.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is pumped about this new chapter, saying, "The opportunity to continue the iconic and Emmy Award-winning ‘Inside the NBA’ is a huge win for basketball fans everywhere." Couldn’t agree more, Adam!
Warner Bros. Discovery Drama: A Slam Dunk Resolution
In other news, Warner Bros. Discovery was tangled up in a lawsuit with the NBA over media rights. They claimed they didn’t get a fair shot at renegotiating their deal. But cooler heads prevailed, and they’ve reached a new agreement. CEO David Zaslav can now breathe easy, knowing TNT’s Inside the NBA will keep entertaining us. Speaking of trades, did you catch that wild Curry rumor?
NBA Commissioner Silver had some thoughts on the whole mess, saying, "Ideally in these partnerships, people arenโt pulling out the contract and saying page eight, paragraph three." Sounds like a classic case of reading the fine print gone wrong, huh?
