Jarrett Allen Signs Three-Year $91M Extension with Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has agreed to a three-year, $91 million contract extension, guaranteeing him $131 million over the next five years, his agent Derrick Powell announced.

Previous Contract Details

Allen had two years left on his five-year, $100 million deal from 2021. He was set to earn $20 million in the 2024-25 season before this new agreement.

Joining Other Cavaliers Stars

This summer, Allen is the third Cavs starter to get an extension, following Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley. Last season, he played 77 games and averaged career highs: 16.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He also shot impressively wellโ€”63.4% from the field and 74.2% from the free-throw line.

Double-Doubles Milestone

Allen recorded 42 double-doubles last seasonโ€”the most since LeBron James’ 52 in the 2017-18 season according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Moreover, Allen joined Giannis Antetokounmpo as one of only two players last season to average at least 15 points with over 60% shooting accuracy. His usage percentage hit a career high of 19.4%.

By the end of the regular season in 2023-24, he ranked seventh in total rebounds (811) and sixth in offensive rebounds (243). He also placed eleventh in defensive boards (568) and fourth in offensive rating (131.3).

Fans love seeing players like Allen get rewarded for their hard work!

During the first round of playoffs against Orlando Magic, Allen missed three games due to a rib injury but still managed impressive averages: 17 points and nearly fourteen rebounds per game with a shooting percentage of sixty-eight percent through four games.

Playoff Career High

In Game Two’s win against Orlando Magic last postseason (96-86), he scored sixteen points along with twenty reboundsโ€”a personal playoff bestโ€”plus three assists, two steals, and three blocks within thirty-eight minutes on court time.

Kevin Love (21) and Brad Daugherty (20) are other Cavs who grabbed twenty or more boards during playoffs; Love did it during Game One of NBA Finals versus Golden State Warriors back then!

โ€œIt means so much,โ€ said Allen about joining such elite company among rebounders like Anderson Varejao who inspired him greatly throughout his career journey

โ€œHate admitting it but was he best overall? No wayโ€”but every single time stepped onto court wanted badly enoughโ€”I just try replicating that mindset,โ€ added Allen reflecting upon Varejaoโ€™s influence while playing under former coach J.B Bickerstaff praised post-win saying โ€œHe made sure we won rebound battleโ€”we wouldnโ€™t be here without him.โ€
