Jaylen Brown thinks he’d beat Steph Curry one-on-one, and he’s not shy about it.
The Celtics guard made waves this week when he boldly claimed he could take down the Warriors superstar in a hypothetical matchup.
“It’s like weight classes… he’s too small… one-on-one? Curry’s not beating me,” Brown said during a Twitch livestream with rapper DDG.
Brown’s confidence comes with some logic behind it. At 6’6″ and 223 pounds, he’s got a significant size advantage over the 6’2″ Curry.
He believes that edge would let him bully Curry in the post and overpower him on drives to the basket.
The comments quickly spread across social media and got NBA fans talking.
While Brown made these remarks casually during a stream rather than in a postgame interview, they still highlight his competitive fire. He’s not backing down from anyone – even a future Hall of Famer.
Of course, we’re talking about Steph Curry here.
The guy has revolutionized basketball with his otherworldly shooting. His quick release and ability to pull up from practically anywhere on the court make him nearly impossible to guard.
But Brown seems unfazed, trusting his physical tools and versatile scoring ability would give him the edge.
“Jaylen Brown: ‘[Steph is] too small.’
DDG: ‘I don’t agree with that.’
JB: ‘In 1-on-1? Curry’s not beating me.’ “
Curry’s Impact Runs Deep
Steph’s career speaks for itself. He’s changed how basketball is played at every level with his long-range bombing and gravity on offense.
Kids everywhere now practice shooting from the logo because of him.
Even at 37, Curry remains one of the league’s most dangerous offensive weapons. His game has evolved beyond just three-point shooting, making him a threat from anywhere on the court.
The Debate Rages On
Fans have jumped all over this one, with opinions split on who’d actually win.
Some point to Brown’s strength, athleticism and confidence as major advantages. Others argue you can never count out Curry’s shooting wizardry and ball-handling skills.
We’ll probably never see this matchup actually happen outside of an All-Star weekend fantasy.
But Brown’s comments have added another fun subplot to follow in a season already packed with star-powered storylines.
