Jaylen Brown is upset about being left out of Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. He hinted in a tweet that Nike, the team’s sponsor, might have excluded him because of his past remarks about the company.
Enes Freedom and Stephen A. Smith backed up this theory, suggesting Brown was blackballed for speaking out too much. Grant Hill, managing director of Team USA, addressed this on “The Dan Patrick Show”. He said he talked to Brown’s agent but didn’t dive into all details.
Hill mentioned it was purely a basketball decision: “I always love a good conspiracy theory, but it was really truly a basketball decision and these are tough decisions,” Hill explained. “But having gone through this with the FIBA competition, you want to find the right balance and the right pieces on the court that we needed.”
Jaylen’s Reaction:
On Sunday, Jaylen responded on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his disappointment at being labeled a “conspiracy theorist” by Hill. He also reminded everyone of his role as Vice President of the NBA Players Association since 2018.
grant hill calling me a conspiracy theorist is disappointing Iโve been a VP since I was 21 years old I have a great understanding

Fans might think it’s unfair how Jaylen was treated.
Brown wasn’t initially part of Team USA’s 12-man roster but seemed like an ideal replacement for Kawhi Leonard after his NBA Finals MVP win. Instead, Derrick White got the spot, causing mixed reactions from fans and analysts online.
What do you think about Jaylen’s exclusion?
