Jayson Tatum Criticizes Refs for Missed Call Against Bucks

Jayson Tatum expressed his frustration after the game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Game Incident:

During the match, Tatum twisted his ankle when Giannis Antetokounmpo got too close while he was shooting a three-pointer. As Tatum landed, he stepped on Giannis’s foot and hurt his left ankle.

League Rules and Referee Oversight:

The NBA has rules to protect shooters from defenders who step into their landing space, which can cause injuries. This type of play should have been a flagrant foul against Giannis, giving Boston free throws and possession. However, despite referee Natalie Sago being nearby, no foul was called.

Tatum’s Reaction:

Although the Celtics won 113-107, Tatum was upset about the missed call. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment with a post saying “Smfh,” along with a facepalm emoji and video clip of the incident. He added that some calls shouldn’t be missed.

Fans really think referees need to pay more attention during games.

Tatum’s Performance Despite Injury:

Even though he was hurt, Tatum stayed in the game and scored 31 points with 12 rebounds and six assistsโ€”leading in all categories for his team. His frustration is understandable since this kind of dangerous play is something the league wants to eliminate.
