Kevin Durant Invests in PSG, Considers Retirement

Kevin Durant has been busy building his future after winning the gold medal in Olympic Basketball in Paris.

New Investment in Paris Saint-Germain:

Just days after beating France, it was revealed that Durant became a minority stakeholder in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Peter Ritzier from The Athletic shared that Durantโ€™s firm, Boardroom, acquired a shareholding worth "single digit millions" through the Arctos fund invested in PSG.

Boardroom also confirmed this investment. Team owner Al-Khelaifi welcomed Durant warmly: โ€œIt was an honor to welcome Kevin Durant to the Campus today and to witness his passion for Paris Saint-Germain and his recognition of the excellent sports facilities at our new PSG Campus training centre.โ€

Durant’s Role Model Status:

An executive praised Durant saying, โ€œKevin is an inspirational athlete, investor and all-round role model… We are extremely proud of his connection to the Paris Saint-Germain family as we share the same values and vision.โ€ They look forward to working with him and Boardroom to bring top-notch sports and entertainment to fans globally.

Thinking About Retirement:

In a recent interview, Durant admitted he’s contemplating retirement. At 35 years old, having won MVPs, NBA titles, and four Olympic gold medals, he feels it’s natural. โ€œAs I get older… I tend to think about retirement more,โ€ he said.

He added that while he doesnโ€™t constantly think about it, itโ€™s on his mind. He expressed interest in staying connected to basketball, philanthropy in his hometown, working with his mom, and just hanging out.

Fans feel it’s bittersweet seeing such a legend consider stepping away from the game.

Mental Preparation for Retirement:

Durant acknowledged that once you’ve achieved everything possible in basketball glory like he hasโ€”becoming Team USAโ€™s most successful male Olympic playerโ€”there isnโ€™t much left to aim for. He spoke about needing time away from basketball daily life: โ€œI have to get in the room and see what I actually want… Itโ€™s been close to 30 years of me doing this.โ€

This realization is why he’s investing outside of basketball. He wants space to discover who he is beyond being an athlete before diving into something new.

Currently on vacation before returning to Phoenix Suns alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal for another championship run
