Kevin Durant and Steven Adams are teammates again after nearly a decade apart
Kevin Durant and Steven Adams are fishing buddies once more, reuniting as Houston Rockets teammates almost ten years after they last played together in Oklahoma City.
The former Thunder teammates, who shared the court from 2013 to 2016, were spotted enjoying some quality time fishing as part of a group outing before training camp kicks off on September 30.
This casual hangout shows they’re already rebuilding their chemistry both on and off the court following Durant’s trade from the Phoenix Suns to Houston in July.
Houston is coming off an impressive 52-win season that landed them the West’s No. 2 seed. They pushed Golden State to seven games before falling short, but it was still a huge improvement after barely breaking even the year before.
Now with Durant in the mix? Expectations are through the roof.
The 37-year-old superstar averaged 26.6 points last season and hasn’t lost his touch as one of the NBA’s deadliest scorers. He brings exactly what this young Rockets team needs – a veteran who knows what it takes to win it all.
The Rockets open their preseason on October 6 before facing the defending champion Thunder in their season opener on October 21. Talk about a storyline!
Most of Houston’s core is returning intact. Alperen Åžengün continues his rise as an All-Star big man, while Amen Thompson earned All-Defensive First Team honors for his lockdown defense. Adding Adams gives them a tough interior presence off the bench.
But Durant is the missing piece.
A 15-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion, KD has been through every playoff situation imaginable. When games get tight and nerves get frayed, he’s the guy who can deliver.
Houston hasn’t won a championship since 1995. They’ve had competitive teams since then, but never quite made it back to the Finals. With this balanced roster led by Durant, Åžengün, Thompson, and Adams, there’s real hope this could be the year.
For now, fishing trips and team bonding set the foundation. But once the season tips off, it’s all about one thing: bringing another championship to Houston.
