Anthony Edwards recently stirred the NBA world by claiming Michael Jordan was the only talented player from past generations.
Kevin Garnett’s Response:
On a recent episode of Ticket & The Truth with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett shared his thoughts. He said, "If I’m being honest, I don’t think anyone today could have played 20 years ago." Garnett, who played from 1995 to 2016, emphasized how different the game was back then.
He continued, "Twenty years ago, you couldn’t do a triple step back. If you tried and missed, it was over."
Garnett explained that efficiency and physicality were key in the past. "The league had to change for more scoring," he told Pierce.
Edwards’ Controversial Statement:
In an interview, Edwards claimed Michael Jordan was the only skilled player of his era. This upset fans and former players alike. He argued that today’s athletes are much more skilled than those in the ’90s.
Fans often feel nostalgic about older eras and sometimes disagree with young players’ bold claims.
Magic Johnson’s Reaction:
Magic Johnson didn’t hold back when responding to Edwards’ comments about ’90s basketball legends. Johnson said he doesn’t respond to someone who hasn’t won a championship at any levelโcollege or high school included.

Johnson’s remarks highlighted the difference in achievements between him and Edwards. While Edwards has shown promiseโlike averaging 24.6 points in last seasonโs Western Conference Finalsโhis career accomplishments don’t yet match up to Johnsonโs legendary status.
Interestingly enough, this all comes as Edwards declared himself as Team USA’s โNo. 1 optionโ for the upcoming Paris Gamesโa team featuring stars like LeBron James and Steph Curry!
