The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are on different paths.
Neither team has won a championship in about 50 years or been to the NBA Finals in over 20 years. Yet, the Knicks seem to be improving while the Nets are rebuilding. With three months until the regular season starts, both teams have historic win totals set by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Sports betting writer Ben Fawkes noted that these numbers haven’t been seen in over 25 years for either team .
The New York Knicks open at @DKSportsbook with their highest win total (52.5) since the 1997-98 season, per @SOHistory.
Knicks (50-32) went OVER their win total of 45.5 last season

Knicks’ Recent Success:
The Knicks missed the playoffs eight out of nine seasons from 2005 to 2022 but turned things around by going 47-35 during the 2022-23 campaign and reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2013. Last season, they had their first fifty-win year in eleven seasons and made it back to the conference semifinals.
Now riding high on what fans call “Nova Knicks” magic, this squad might challenge Boston Celtics for top honors in the Eastern Conference this winter. One of their four former Villanova stars โ Mikal Bridges โ was traded from Brooklyn late June.
Fans might think this news is pretty exciting!
Bridges joins Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart forming a quartet of ex-Wildcats champions while leaving a big gap in Brooklyn’s star power. He led Brooklyn last season in minutes per game (34.8), three-point field goals per game (career-high of 2.7), and was second-best scorer averaging nearly twenty points each match.
New head coach Jordi Fernandez faces quite a challenge ahead ! Despite re-signing star big man Nic Claxton to a four-year $97M contract extension being top offseason priority achieved by Brooklyn GM; it’s clear that Knicks are still kings of NYC basketball scene!
What do you think about all these changes happening with these teams?
