Some of the best players in Knicks history have had memorable nicknames that fans still remember. Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Walt “Clyde” Frazier, Willis “The Captain” Reed, Anthony “Mase” Mason, and Patrick “Hoya Destroya” Ewing are just a few examples. Even Jeremy Lin’s “Linsanity” and Xavier McDaniel’s “X-Man” became iconic during their time in New York.
New Nickname for Karl-Anthony Towns:
Now it’s Karl-Anthony Towns’ turn to get a cool nickname as he joins the Knicks. On Monday, Josh Hart shared some ideas on X for what to call his new teammate.

Towns’ Impact on the Court:
These cat-themed nicknames come from Towns’ initials, KAT. Although he hasn’t commented on them yet, people are eager to hear his thoughts soon. So far with the Knicks, Towns has been fitting right in. In three preseason games playing just over 20 minutes each game, he’s averaged 17 points and 10.6 rebounds. His ability to shoot from long range has added a fresh dynamic to their offense.
Jalen Brunson now has more freedom on the court thanks to Towns’ shooting skills and is benefiting from having space created by teammates like Hart and Mikal Bridges around him.
Fans think this duo of Towns and Brunson could really boost the Knicks’ offensive game this season after they finished last in pace but seventh in offensive rating last year.
We can’t wait to see how they do when they play against the Celtics on October 22 at TD Garden!
