Lakers Finalize JJ Redick’s Coaching Staff

Ever since JJ Redick was hired as the head coach of the Lakers, fans have had mixed feelings.

New Coaching Staff Announcement:

This week, the Lakers confirmed their coaching staff for the 2024-25 season. The team has brought in former head coaches Scott Brooks and Nate McMillan, along with Lindsey Harding, Bob Beyer, Greg St. Jean, Beau Levesque, and head video coordinator Michael Wexler.

Redick now has a strong support system to help him in his first year as a coach. McMillanโ€™s experience will be especially valuable; heโ€™s been coaching for 18 years and recently led the Atlanta Hawks.

JJ admitted his lack of coaching experience but emphasized his long history in basketball: โ€œI have zero coaching experience in the NBA, but I would argue that Iโ€™m very experienced. It started 22 years ago when I went to Duke and I got to play for Coach K [Mike Krzyzewski] for four years, spent 15 years as a [NBA] player.โ€

Lindsey Harding’s Historic Role:

Lindsey Harding is making history as the first woman assistant coach for the Lakers. She previously had great success with the G Leagueโ€™s Stockton Kings and was named Coach of the Year.

Redick shared why he chose this diverse group: โ€œThrough an intentional and thorough process, weโ€™ve brought together an experienced, diverse, and dedicated coaching staff. Our goal from day one is to foster a high-performing environment of player development and team alignment through relentless work, daily collaboration, and innovation.”

Fans are excited about this new chapter!

He added that both players and staff are committed to excellence every time they step on court.

Austin Reaves’ Excitement:

Austin Reaves has become one of the Lakersโ€™ standout players despite going undrafted. Heโ€™s thrilled about playing alongside LeBron James and Bronny James next season: โ€œFor LeBron to just put himself in position to play with his son is special… For me to be around them… itโ€™s going to be very cool.โ€

Bronny James’ Potential:

Summer League coach Dane Johnson spoke about Bronny’s potential but stressed patience: “He had two pretty good games last two… Just that confidence knowing he can play at this level… Itโ€™s still going take a lot of time.”

We think Bronny will shine soon enough!
