The buzz around LeBron James possibly taking a pay cut to bring in a key player has been growing louder since NBA free agency kicked off.
When the clock hit 6 p.m. ET, it became clear that Klay Thompson might be his top choice.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN, LeBron called Klay right when free agency started (h/t ClutchPoints).
“I’m told LeBron James called Klay Thompson right when free agency opened… These conversations, this negotiation will go into tomorrow. There probably will not be a resolution tonight,” Wojnarowski said on “SportsCenter.”

LeBron’s interest in Klay isn’t shocking. Pairing him with Anthony Davis and James could be a dream team . The Lakers are still very much in the race to sign the 34-year-old guard despite other teams also showing interest.
Challenges Ahead:
As free agency continues, the Lakers need to make a strong case for why Klay should join them. Wojnarowski mentioned that Thompson plans to meet with several teams: the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and of course, the Lakers.
Fans might think this news is both exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time.
Will LeBron’s call be enough to sway Klay? Only time will tell. What do you think about all this?
