LeBron James Warns Bronny About Potential Mistake

LeBron James has set some strict rules for his son, Bronny, as they prepare to be teammates on the Lakers.

Ground Rules for Father-Son Duo

In a recent episode of “The Shop” on Uninterrupted, LeBron shared that Bronny is not allowed to call him “dad” while they’re at work. LeBron explained, “He cannot call me dad in the workplace. Once we leave the practice facility and the gates close, I could be dad again. In the car, if we ride together, I could be dad. At home, I can be dad. Otherwise, he’s gotta call me ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron’ or ‘GOAT’ if he wants to โ€” that’s up to him [laughs].”

LeBron added that itโ€™s been easy for him because heโ€™s always called his son Bronny and not โ€œson.โ€ He emphasized that they can’t have moments like running down the court with Bronny shouting “Dad, push the ball up. I’m open!” That would just be too weird!

Future on the Court

It might take some time before we see LeBron and Bronny playing together in an NBA game. Although nothing is confirmed yet, it’s likely that Bronny will start his professional career with the Lakers’ G League team, South Bay Lakers. New head coach JJ Redick hinted at this during Summer League when discussing how they plan to develop Bronny.

“He is a development player,” Redick told Sirius XM NBA Radio. “He’s certainly going to spend time with the Lakers but also in the G League.”

Fans think it’s smart to give him time to grow.

Summer League Performance

During Summer League in Las Vegas, Bronny had an average performance with 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists over four games. However, he showed promise as a defensive guard and demonstrated some playmaking skills in his last two games.

Those performances have managed expectations for his rookie season since he wasn’t seen as a top prospect after one year at USC anyway.

Rookie Season Expectations

Drafted 55th overall in the NBA Draft, Bronny enters his rookie season with +30000 odds to win Rookie of the Year according to BetMGM Sportsbook.

Meanwhile, another Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht has better odds for Rookie of the Year behind Reed Sheppard, Zach Edey and Stephon Castle
