LiAngelo Ball Set for 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend Following Tweaker Dance Trend

LiAngelo Ball is taking his viral hit “Tweaker” to basketball’s biggest stage, with plans to perform at NBA All-Star Saturday night on February 15 at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

It’s a pretty amazing turn of events for the 26-year-old middle Ball brother, who’s found more success in music than he ever did in basketball.

The song has blown up since its release, racking up 14.4 million views on WorldstarHipHop’s YouTube channel and landing at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.

That success caught the attention of some heavy hitters in the music industry. Def Jam and Universal Music Group signed him to a deal worth up to $13 million, with $8 million guaranteed.

He’s already dropped a remix featuring Lil Wayne.

Music critics are taking notice too. Pitchfork’s Alphonse Pierre says Ball’s sound is inspired by 2000s Louisiana hip-hop, like he’s trying to channel the spirit of artists like Boosie and Webbie in Baton Rouge.

While this will be his first TV performance, LiAngelo’s already gotten a taste of performing for big crowds. He did “Tweaker” at an NFL playoff game between the Commanders and Lions last month.

It’s quite a career shift for someone who spent a couple years trying to make it in pro basketball. His stint in the NBA G League with the Greensboro Swarm from 2021-23 was pretty modest – just 4.4 points in 13.1 minutes per game across 31 appearances.

Ironically, he’ll be the only Ball brother at All-Star Weekend. His more famous siblings won’t be there – LaMelo didn’t make the All-Star team, and Lonzo’s still working his way back from knee surgeries.

The news comes right after Lonzo signed a new two-year, $20 million extension with the Chicago Bulls, keeping him there through 2026-27 if the team picks up their option.

LiAngelo will share the spotlight with the usual All-Star Saturday events – the Slam Dunk Contest, 3-Point Contest, and Skills Challenge – at the Warriors’ home arena.

Looks like the middle Ball brother might have found his true calling after all – just not on the basketball court.
