Alright, hoop heads, let’s dive into some juicy NBA chatter!
Gilbert Arenas and Luka’s MVP Quest
So, Gilbert Arenas is back at it again, stirring the pot with his bold predictions. This time, he’s got his eyes locked on Luka Doncic, the Slovenian sensation. Arenas is convinced that this season, Luka’s snagging that MVP trophy. After taking the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last year, Luka’s already a beast with his insane statsโ33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game! But Arenas thinks adding Klay Thompson to the mix will make Luka unstoppable. “Iโd be surprised if he donโt average a triple-double,” Arenas said. “Now you got (Thompson) whoโs a catch-and-shoot, so some of your assists will come without even any effort this time.”

Dirk Nowitzki’s Wisdom
Even Dirk Nowitzki threw some love and advice Luka’s way. Back in June, Dirk told him, “Well, just keep doing what heโs doing, honestly. Do your game. Play your game. I know it wasnโt the ending you were hoping for, but you know what? Youโre just getting started, youโre 25 years old.” Classic Dirk, always dropping gems. And hey, sometimes you gotta lose big to win bigger, right? Dirk believes those tough losses only fuel the fire to come back stronger.
Tatum’s MVP Hype
But hold up, Luka’s not the only one in the MVP conversation. Jayson Tatum is getting some serious buzz too. Ex-NBA champ Quinn Cook took to X (formerly Twitter) to hype up Tatum: “Jayson Tatum will win MVP this season! Three straight All-NBA first teams, winning a gold medal in 2021 while being the 2nd leading scorer on the team and just won his first NBA championship to not playing a minute for team USA all the motivation he needs. Look out NBA.”
In my opinion, Tatum’s got every reason to be confident. The dude averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists last season, shooting lights out from the field and beyond the arc. And after leading the Celtics to their first title in years, his swagger is through the roof.
A Rematch in the Finals?
Tatum’s not just thinking about MVPs, though. He’s already talking rematch. On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Tatum said, “Itโs gonna be a rematch. Weโre going to play Dallas again.” Bold words, but hey, the guy’s riding high after a gold medal win in Paris and an NBA championship.
So, what do you think? Will Luka finally grab that MVP, or is Tatum primed to snatch it away? And are we really looking at a Celtics-Mavs rematch in the Finals? Drop your thoughts below!
