According to recent NBA buzz, the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers are eyeing veteran free agent Marcus Morris.
Marcus Morris’ Journey Last Season
Last season, the Sixers traded Marcus Morris to the Spurs on February 8. They felt his absence because he brought toughness and leadership. Their current roster lacks a true power forward, so adding him back makes sense.
Morris then reached a buyout with the Spurs and joined Cleveland in March. He was fantastic for the Cavs in the playoffs, scoring 25 points against Boston in Game 5 of their second-round series.
“The #Sixers remain interested in signing Marcus Morris Sr., although the Cleveland Cavaliers are ‘highly interested’ in retaining the 34-year-old veteran,” tweeted @PompeyOnSixers.

โThe Sixers only have a one-year veteran-minimum salary of $3.3 million available to offer him.โฆ

In his career spanning 832 NBA games (509 starts) over 13 seasons, Morris has averaged 12 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game while shooting efficiently from various ranges.
Performance with Sixers Last Season
In his stint with the Sixers last season (37 games), he averaged modest stats: 6.7 points and nearly three rebounds per game while maintaining good shooting percentages.
However, Philly can only offer him a one-year veteran-minimum salary of $3.3 million.
Cavaliers’ Offer to Marcus Morris
Keith Pompey from The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Cleveland is ready to offer almost double what Philly can pay him. But money might not be everything for Morris at this stage of his career.
โIโm not trying to overdo anything,โ said Morris on Tuesday. โI know the game well after being around for fourteen years. I just want to help a team as a vet but still compete hard.โ
Fans think it would be great if he could mentor younger players too!
Besides Philly and Cleveland, teams like Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves have shown interest too! Even Dallas Mavericks were keen before making other moves.
Sometimes it’s funny how many teams want one player!
