Mark Cuban Seeks Dennis Lindsey Return to Dallas Mavericks Front Office

Following a 116-114 loss on Monday, the Dallas Mavericks dropped to 3-8 to begin the 2025-26 season. General manager Nico Harrison had lost the trust of owner Patrick Dumont.

The Mavs didn’t waste any time making changes. On Tuesday, November 11, they fired GM Nico Harrison after four seasons with the team. Assistant GMs Michael Finley and Matt Ricardi will temporarily take over basketball operations while the search for a replacement begins.

ESPN’s Tim Bontemps says Mark Cuban wants the front office to bring back Dennis Lindsey, who ran the Utah Jazz for nine seasons as their general manager.

Sources say the Mavericks are moving quickly to find their next GM.

Many Dallas fans are actually thrilled about Harrison’s firing. He was the one who made the shocking decision to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers at last season’s trade deadline.

It was a move that owner Patrick Dumont tried to support publicly, but behind the scenes, things were different. Since that trade, Dumont has become much more involved in the team’s basketball decisions – a clear sign Harrison was on thin ice.

NBA insider Tim Bontemps reports that minority owner Mark Cuban has his heart set on bringing Dennis Lindsey back to Dallas.

Lindsey, 56, briefly worked with the Mavs during the 2023-24 season and played a key role in helping Harrison make the trades that propelled Dallas to the NBA Finals in 2024. Even though they didn’t win the championship, those moves built what looked like a contending roster.

For the past two seasons, Lindsey has been working in the Detroit Pistons front office. Importantly, he wasn’t with Dallas when Harrison made the controversial decision to ship Doncic to Los Angeles.

Getting Lindsey back could be huge for the franchise’s future. Bontemps noted that Dumont and Cuban, who haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, have been talking more frequently in recent months.

Head coach Jason Kidd’s job appears safe for now. He signed a multi-year extension with the Mavericks this offseason, and the team even blocked the Knicks from interviewing him for their coaching vacancy.

But if the season continues to go downhill, even Kidd’s position might start to look shaky.

The Mavs will be back in action Wednesday, November 12, when they host the Phoenix Suns at home.
