Things got heated at the American Airlines Center when a Mavericks fan was kicked out for criticizing GM Nico Harrison during Monday night’s game against the Kings.
The fan’s crime? Mouthing “fire Nico” on the Jumbotron during a karaoke segment.
It’s just the latest drama in what’s become a nightmare scenario for Mavs fans, who are still reeling from the shocking trade that sent superstar Luka Doncic to the Lakers for Anthony Davis.
The trade has left Dallas basketball fans absolutely stunned. They just watched their 25-year-old franchise player – arguably the best in the NBA right now – get shipped off for a 31-year-old Davis who’s already nursing an injury in his first week with the team.
Making matters worse, the Mavs dropped a heartbreaker to Sacramento by just one point on Monday. Meanwhile, Doncic was suiting up in purple and gold for the first time in LA.
Team owner Patrick Dumont tried to explain things, hinting that Doncic’s attitude wasn’t what they wanted in a franchise leader. But that’s left fans with even more questions.
“The timing just doesn’t make sense,” said one season ticket holder. “Why trade him now when his contract runs through the season? We could’ve started a bidding war.”
The Mavs seem to be pivoting toward defense with Davis, but it’s a tough sell after Doncic single-handedly carried them to the NBA Finals last year.
The front office isn’t exactly winning any PR battles either. They’re offering refunds to season ticket holders – a move many see as damage control gone wrong.
And now they’re kicking out fans for expressing frustration? Social media lit up after the ejection, with one viral post calling the Mavs “the NBA’s biggest joke.”
The Lakers, meanwhile, are loving life. Their championship odds have skyrocketed since landing Doncic, while Dallas tries to figure out what’s next.
Harrison, the GM at the center of it all, still hasn’t commented on the trade.
